Visit Cullybackey
Arthur Cottage
Only a short walk from the village of Cullybackey, it is the ancestral home of Chester Alan Arthur, the 21st President of the United States of America.
Enter this carefully restored cottage and be transported to a bygone era and see how the Arthur family lived in the late 18th Century. Follow the story of the Arthur family and trace the link from a rural village in Northern Ireland to the American Presidency.
Arthur Cottage provides an educational experience for all ages. Baking demonstrations over the open turf fire by ladies dressed in period costume take place and visitors can come along on selected days and enjoy the soda bread and pancakes.
Millennium Riverside Walk
The Millennium Riverside Walk in Cullybackey Village is a great area to stretch your legs and also explore Galgorm Forest as well. The walk takes you alongside the River Maine before jutting inwards towards Galgorm Forest near the Galgorm Resort & Spa complex. The walk is full of natures splendours and includes an area to watch birds & other wildlife visiting a small pond and areas to sit and look out along the riverside as well as leafy woodland areas.
Perfect for all abilities, with a good path and no steep climbs. Includes woodlands and a pond. Parking is also available.
Shellinghill Park
One of Cullybackey Community Partnership’s most recent projects, the park is a prime example of the expertise of the volunteers who have turned a piece of waste ground into an exquisite park.
With the recently installed gazebo, the park is a wonderful way to bring people together, providing residents and visitors with a place to connect, socialise, and celebrate. The park was a fantastic array of plants, flowers and trees including a range of raised beds, planted with help from Cullybackey Scouts.
The park also has a new water feature and also situates one of our two infamous horse-shoe horses.
Well worth a visit on a sunny day to explore. See if you can find Alice and or bug hotel.
